FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about RFID technology for Caribbean hospitality.
What types of RFID wristbands do you offer for resorts?
We offer silicone, fabric/nylon, and eco-friendly wooden RFID wristbands. All are waterproof, customizable with your resort branding, and compatible with major hotel lock systems including ASSA ABLOY VingCard, Salto, and DormaKaba. Our silicone bands are ideal for pool and beach environments, while wooden wristbands appeal to eco-conscious properties.
Are your RFID products compatible with existing hotel lock systems?
Yes. Our RFID key cards and wristbands are compatible with all major hotel lock systems, including ASSA ABLOY VingCard, Salto Systems, DormaKaba, Onity, and Saflok. We can provide custom chip configurations (MIFARE Classic, MIFARE DESFire EV2/EV3, or LEGIC) to match your specific system requirements.
How does the cashless payment system work at a resort?
Guests receive an RFID wristband or card at check-in, which is linked to their guest folio or a pre-loaded balance. They can then tap to pay at restaurants, bars, spa, gift shops, and other resort facilities. All transactions are encrypted and tracked in real-time through a central management dashboard. Studies show cashless systems increase per-guest spending by 15-30%.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimum order quantities vary by product type. Standard PVC RFID key cards start at 500 units. Custom silicone wristbands begin at 200 units. Wooden and specialty wristbands have a 100-unit minimum. For custom solutions with unique specifications, we can discuss flexible MOQs based on project requirements. Contact us for specific pricing.
Do you offer eco-friendly RFID products?
Absolutely. Our eco-friendly line includes FSC-certified wooden RFID wristbands, recycled paper key cards, bamboo composite cards, and biodegradable wristband options. These products maintain full RFID functionality and system compatibility while helping your property meet sustainability goals and appeal to environmentally conscious guests.
How long does it take to fulfill an order?
Standard orders with custom printing and chip programming are fulfilled within 2-3 weeks. Rush orders can be accommodated within 7-10 business days for an additional fee. We maintain Caribbean warehouse stock of popular configurations for faster regional delivery, often within 3-5 business days for standard items.
What certifications do your products meet?
Our products comply with ISO 14443 (contactless smart card communication), ISO 9001:2015 (quality management systems), and ISO 14298 (security printing management). Eco-friendly products carry FSC Chain of Custody certification. All products meet relevant EU RoHS and REACH environmental compliance standards.
Can you integrate with our existing PMS or POS system?
Yes. Our RFID solutions integrate with major Property Management Systems (PMS) including Opera, Maestro, and Protel, as well as leading Point of Sale (POS) platforms. Our technical team works with your IT department to ensure seamless integration, including API connections and middleware configuration where required.
What is NFC and how does it differ from RFID?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a subset of RFID technology that operates at 13.56 MHz and has a read range of approximately 4 cm. Standard RFID cards also operate at this frequency but may have longer read ranges. For hotel applications, both technologies are functionally identical -- the terms are often used interchangeably for contactless key cards and wristbands.
How waterproof are your RFID wristbands?
Our silicone wristbands carry an IP68 rating, meaning they are fully waterproof and can withstand prolonged submersion in pools, ocean water, and hot tubs. Fabric wristbands are water-resistant and quick-drying. Wooden wristbands are treated with a waterproof coating suitable for brief water exposure, though we recommend silicone for water-park environments.
Can wristbands be used for both room access and payments?
Yes, this is one of the primary advantages of RFID wristbands in resort environments. A single wristband can be programmed to serve as a room key, a cashless payment method, an access credential for amenities (pool, gym, spa), and even an event ticket. This consolidation eliminates the need for guests to carry multiple cards or cash.
What chip types do you support?
We support all major RFID chip types used in hospitality, including MIFARE Classic 1K/4K, MIFARE DESFire EV2 and EV3 (recommended for enhanced security), MIFARE Ultralight, NTAG213/215/216 (for NFC applications), LEGIC, and HID iCLASS. We will recommend the optimal chip type based on your lock system, payment platform, and security requirements.
Do you provide custom branding and printing?
Yes, full custom branding is available on all products. This includes full-color printing (CMYK), embossed or debossed logos, laser engraving (on wooden products), pantone color matching for silicone, and custom packaging. We provide design support and digital proofs before production begins.
How secure are RFID key cards compared to magnetic stripe cards?
RFID key cards are significantly more secure than magnetic stripe cards. Magnetic stripes can be easily cloned with inexpensive equipment, while RFID cards with DESFire EV3 chips use AES-128 encryption and mutual authentication, making unauthorized duplication extremely difficult. RFID cards are also more durable -- they do not demagnetize.
What happens if a guest loses their RFID wristband?
Lost wristbands can be immediately deactivated through the management system, preventing unauthorized use. A replacement wristband is issued and linked to the guest profile within minutes. This is actually faster and more secure than replacing lost magnetic key cards, as the deactivation is instant and system-wide.
Do you provide installation and training services?
Yes. We offer complete installation support, including system design consultation, hardware setup, chip programming, PMS/POS integration, and comprehensive staff training. Training covers front desk operations, wristband encoding, troubleshooting, and guest-facing procedures to ensure smooth deployment.
What is the typical lifespan of an RFID key card?
RFID key cards have a significantly longer lifespan than magnetic stripe cards. A standard PVC RFID card can endure over 100,000 read cycles and last 5-10 years under normal use. Unlike magnetic cards, they do not degrade from proximity to phones, wallets, or other magnetic sources.
Can you supply RFID products for a large event or conference?
Yes. We supply NFC/RFID badges and wristbands for events and conferences of all sizes. Our event solutions include attendance tracking, lead capture, session access control, and networking features (tap-to-exchange contacts). We can handle rush orders for time-sensitive events and provide on-site technical support.
Do you ship to all Caribbean islands?
Yes. We serve the entire Caribbean region, including the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Bahamas, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Curacao, Puerto Rico, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, St. Lucia, Antigua, and all other Caribbean nations. We also serve Central and South American markets.
