Building the card

The door decides first. The design follows.

A key card is one product with two independent records: what it opens, and what it looks like.

  1. 01

    Required credential

Start from the credential the installed door hardware already reads. Everything visible on the card is chosen after that answer exists.

  2. 02

    Card body and finish

A standard PVC body suits high-volume reissue. Wood and textured faces are chosen where the card is part of the arrival — in Cap Cana and boutique Punta Cana Village properties that is the norm rather than the exception.

  3. 03

    Artwork and variable print

Full-face artwork, finish, room numbering and sequential codes are specified apart from the technical build, so either side can change without disturbing the other.

  4. 04

    Encoding and reorder record

Keep the approved encoding sheet stored with the artwork file. A reorder should repeat a known card rather than restart the specification with a different buyer.

FAQ

Before you order.

01Which lamination suits this coast?+

Matte. Salt spray and sun cream attack the printed surface rather than the chip, and matte hides handling far better than gloss.

02Does a wood card warp in the humidity?+

Not if it is specified properly: a thin sealed veneer over a stable core. The card has to stay flat enough for the door reader to read it every time.

03What is the real difference between recycled PVC and plant fibre?+

Recycled PVC behaves exactly like the standard card and nobody at the front desk notices. Plant fibre looks and feels different but will not take a gloss finish.
